The Directorate is the arm of the Hospital that performs the function of seeing to the smooth running of Clinical services and also advising the Management on all matters relating to Clinical duties and ensuring that Clinical services are effectively delivered to patients. The Directorate has among its activities:                                     

• Ensuring provision of adequate Clinical services to Patients in the Hospital.
• Coordinating the numerous activities of clinical departments.
• Monitoring of Clinical services in the Hospital and ensuring that acceptable standards are maintained.
• Coordinating the Training activities of all Schools that are under the UITH management.
• Implementation of Top Management Committee (TMC) and Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) decisions as they affect Clinical Services.
• Encouraging Clinicians to perform researches into their areas of interest.
• Coordinating the Medical Advisory Committee meeting.
• Coordinating activities of the Revolving Funds Schemes.
• Ensuring that the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) programme runs smoothly.           

The Directorate is headed by the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Dr B.S. Alabi. He is ably assisted by two deputies who are Clinicians and also the Head of Administration of the Directorate. The Deputy Chairman, MAC (Clinical Services) is Dr (Mrs.) D. S. Ademola-Popoola while the Deputy Chairman, MAC (Training & Industrial Relations) is Dr M.O. Buhari. 

The Head of Administration in the Directorate is Mr. DS Odaibo.
